RESIDENTS of a caravan park in Petersfield have launched an online fundraising campaign for a life-saving bit of kit.

Broadway Park residents want to raise £2,500 for a defibrillator outside their site office.

A GoFundMe page was launched by Mike Gibson with more than £500 being donated within four days.

Around 200 people live in the retirement community but the device could potentially serve 600 when hikers, dog walkers and the greater Causeway population is taken into consideration.

“When you think about it, that’s a huge number to have access to a piece of life-saving equipment,” said Mike.

“The Broadway Park Residents Association are spearheading the project and have planned a number of in-house events around Christmas to generate funds.”

But residents can’t finance it all themselves so are looking to the wider community to make the purchase a reality.
