A planning application has been made to turn the former Pritchards Garage at Anstey Road in Alton into a car wash and car valeting centre.

Pritchards moved to Medstead in 2022, after the death of garage founder Andrew Pritchard forced it to sell its original site near the junction with Station Road.

Pristine Car Valeting Alton Ltd has asked East Hampshire District Council for permission to convert the existing workshop and ancillary buildings.

The proposed business would employ three full-time and six part-time staff - the equivalent of six full-time employees. It would be open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 6pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

The public consultation period ends on August 5. The planning application reference number is EHDC-25-0711-FUL.
