Headley Down Nature Reserve Trust has a plan to make sure a replacement bronze statue of Montgomery the Erie Wood Bear won’t be stolen – it’s going to fill him up with concrete!

A GoFundMe campaign, The Monty Protection Fund, has already raised £565 and trust chair Angela Jackson is adding security to the design.
She said: “In addition to stronger bolts directly under his paws which will be fixed to steel plates, we will fill him with concrete to make him too heavy to be carried away. We’d love to hear from any experts with equipment that might help us with this process.
“Lots of locals have already sent donations and we are now over halfway to our target. The local One Stop shop has a collection box for us by the till.”
