There’s coffee grounds for excitement on the edge of Petersfield as work has finally begun on a new drive-thru beside East Hampshire’s busiest road.

Greggs and a Starbucks drive-thru are coming to the A272 Winchester Road services with the first sod being dug on a mixed-use scheme north of the BP Garage.

The proposals by Petersfield architects Re-Format also include a 13,046 sqft industrial building called Buckmore One with Mildren Construction overseeing work.

The move ends months of speculation with hopes high the café and drive-thru will open to customers in February.

“Our site in Petersfield is a prime location for a drive-thru and café being on both the A3 and A272,” said Nick Ekins, Managing Director at Gentian, which co-owns the site along with Sunny Day Capital.

“Starbucks and Greggs will greatly complement the local amenities in the area – we look forward to delivering two great units for our retail clients and the community of Petersfield.”

The development forms part of a wider 20-acre site originally acquired by Gentian, with planning approval also granted for a 50,000 sqft urban logistics park of five warehouse units. The buildings have been designed with sustainability in mind, both during construction and after completion.
