SOUTH Western Railway (SWR) has launched a consultation on proposed changes to some late night and early morning services from December 2020.

The plans will see SWR remove a “small number” of midweek services.

“This will allow Network Rail more time to carry out essential maintenance work and help keep trains running on time,” a SWR statement said.

“Doing this will also allow us to introduce additional late night services on busy Friday and Saturday evenings.”

One proposal is to make the last Waterloo to Alton weekend service 11.55pm instead of the current 11.23pm.

The consultation runs until December 23.
