Everybody at St Mary’s Bentworth CE Primary School visited Windsor Castle for the Platinum Jubilee – and they even managed to get a glimpse of the Queen.

The school was lit up in red, white and blue for a fortnight. A dance workshop looked at the decades of the Queen’s reign, and everyone dressed up in the style of their favourite; the 1980s was very popular.

Each pupil painted a commemorative mug and worked on creative ways to celebrate her 70 years of dedication and service.

On ‘Bring Your Grandparent To School Day’, pupils invited their grandparents into lessons so they could look back in time together. Year 6 pupils baked scones to serve them afternoon tea and a commemorative tree was planted in the grounds.

Headteacher Jo Ayres said: “My thanks go to my dedicated team that worked so hard to go over and above to ensure our children have all these special memories.”
