IT had the intriguing title of The Raggedy King and the theme of Chawton Primary School’s Nativity play was the children searching for a king in fine robes and wearing jewels found only the baby Jesus lying naked in a crib with only a cloth to cover him.

The children, aged from four to seven, and directed by Vikki Gates, gave two performances in a packed school hall and received warm applause for their performances.
