The BBC’s Team Rickshaw cycled into Hook, cheered on by over 2,000 residents who had braved the cold to welcome the six young riders, One Show presenter Matt Baker and Pudsey bear.

They had ridden from the Garden Centre at Badshot Lea, near Farnham, to Hook Junior School last Wednesday, on the Surrey/Hampshire leg of their journey around the country, raising money for the BBC Children in Need appeal.

They finished their journey in Manchester for Children in Need Day last Friday.

Inspired by the dedication of these young riders, and by the causes supported by the BBC appeal, schools and businesses in the Alton area took up the Children in Need challenge last week.

Alton Infant School did their bit last Friday by dressing in mismatched clothes and shoes for the day. As part of their Children in Need assembly, they also performed dance moves and actions to the Children in Need song by Paloma Faith and Sigala.

Headteacher Jayne Broach said: “I am delighted to say we raised £150. I would like to say a big thank you to our parents for their donations.”

Businesses like Security Watchdog in Alton also got into the spirit of the event by spending the day in their pyjamas to raise £390 for Children in Need.
