THE A31 through Four Marks was closed for several hours on Monday night after a police officer was hurt in a crash while responding to an emergency call.

Described as “serious”, the incident occurred shortly after 9.40pm when the west-bound police vehicle was in collision with a silver Honda Civic on the Winchester Road (A31) outside the Four Marks Travelodge.

Both drivers were treated at the scene by a crew from South Central Ambulance Service and taken by road to North Hampshire Hospital at Basingstoke.

The driver of the Honda, a man from Bordon, sustained minor injuries.

The police officer was treated for what were thought to be serious but not life-threatening injuries at the time but has since been released from hospital. No-one else was hurt in the crash.

The A31 was closed in both directions at Four Marks.
