OAKMOOR School believes an incident involving a van driver and one of its pupils was an ‘attempted abduction’.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 12-year-old boy was attacked on Chalet Hill in Bordon on Wednesday.

A man got out of an old-style Volkswagen Transporter van and chased the boy as he was walking home. Police said he “made contact” with the boy’s elbow but the boy pushed him away and ran off.

In a letter sent to parents on Thursday, deputy headteacher Stephanie Moral said: “We have been notified today about an attempted abduction of a 12-year-old male student on Wednesday, January 26 on Chalet Hill in Bordon, between Saville Crescent and Jubilee Park between approximately 4.45pm and 5pm.

“We therefore wanted to alert local families so that we can all be extra vigilant and implement extra safeguarding measures to protect the children in our community.”

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We know these kinds of reports concern the community.

“Officers will continue to carry out increased patrols in the area and work with the local schools to provide reassurance to both children and parents.”
