POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road accident on the eastbound carriageway of the A272 at West Meon Hut on Tuesday.

The collision, involving a single vehicle and a tree, happened shortly before 5am. The male driver, believed to be in his 40s and from the Gosport area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
