A GROUP of children from Four Marks Primary School were among more than 400 Year 6 pupils to visit East Hampshire District Council’s (EHDC) offices at Penns Place, Petersfield, last week, as part of National Takeover Day.

East Hampshire bin collections to shift over Christmas and New YearThey learnt about the scores of services the council provides to its residents, and took part in special activities, such as a council chamber debate and recycling challenge.
District council leader Richard Millard said: “We deliver around 100 different services every day to our residents. From planning to pollution and from bin collections to managing elections, our staff handle a huge variety of work.
“National Takeover Day gives these young people a chance to see some of the things we do here and understand how local government influences their lives.”
Children taking part came from Herne Junior, Wootey Junior Alton, St Matthew’s Blackmoor, St Mary’s Bentworth, and primary schools at Buriton, Chawton, Four Marks, Greatham, Grayshott, Langrish, Sheet, Steep, Woodlea, and Bordon.
