“IT was one of the best we have held” was how Pat Murrell described this year’s annual Royal British Legion poppy walk.

Fourteen people set out from the Royal British Legion clubhouse at Anstey Park on May 21, and walked in the sunshine. They could choose either a five or 10-mile route and were rewarded with a ploughman’s lunch.

The event was organised by club managers Colin and Pat Murrell, who said in a joint statement: “It was one of the best we have had. We don’t know how much we have raised but last year with the poppy dance and poppy walk we raised £900.”
