TWO pupils from Anstey Junior School visited Sainsbury’s in Alton to hand over a letter to the store’s public relations ambassador, Debby Bridger, expressing thanks for allowing school representatives to undertake a bag pack and raffle which raised a whopping £824 for the school’s Let’s Build It project.
With a target between £250,000 to £300,000, the aim is to build a community room that can be used during the day for small group work, and then opened up for wider community use.
To be built in the summer of 2018, according to the school website, “an additional space is needed to help raise standards for those children and young people most vulnerable in our community”.
This includes those with behavioural, emotional and health needs or other difficulties, according to the website.
“The space would benefit the whole of Alton, as it would offer small rooms for one to one and group sessions together with a larger hall area to run clubs, training, talks and meetings,” the report went on.
The aim is also to include a kitchen area and fully-accessible toilet facilities. The room would also support Alton families by providing before and after-school care.
The school is currently waiting on the results of an application to the Aviva Community Fund which could net them a grant of up to £25,000.
