ALTON Ramblers will be meeting up on New Year’s Day to celebrate the start of 2017 with a 10-mile circular walk along the River Wey to Netham and on to East Worldham, Wyck and Upper Froyle before returning to town.
Walkers should meet leader Lynn in the car park to the rear of Alton Health Centre (SU723398) at 9.35am for the walk which will begin at 9.45am.
On Tuesday (January 3) the group will be out again for a nine-mile circular walk on the slopes south of the South Downs, taking in Beacon Hill, Devil’s Humps, Chilgrove, Hooksway, and Round Down.
Walkers should be in the lower car park at Alton Sports Centre at 9am to meet with walk leader Fin. The walk will start at 9.45am from Harting Down National Trust car park (SU790180) and there may be a pub stop, but bring lunch. (It should be noted that there is a £2 fee for non-National Trust members in the car park).
