A TARANTULA, scorpion, several snakes and a mix of reptiles and amphibians paid a visit to Alton Convent last Thursday – travelling on a zoo bus driven by television anthropologist Dr Mike Leahy.

He was invited to talk to the senior girls about his work and of course to show off his 'zoo' collection.

He said many of them had been rescued by him from owners who bought them as pets but didn't know how to care for reptiles and amphibians.
