DIVERSIONS which have been in place since February to facilitate the replacement of Butts Bridge are set to be lifted this month.

Having previously scheduled July for the completion date, contractor Knights Brown has said Whitedown Lane is now set to be reopened on Tuesday, December 17.

This week saw a change in traffic management arrangements to allow completion of the northern roundabout.

On Wednesday, December 11, and Friday, December 13, there will be daytime surfacing works to lay the final tarmac course to Selborne Road, Butts Road and Whitedown Lane. “This work is likely to cause increased delays locally,” a Knights Brown statement said. “Please allow extra time for your journeys and avoid the area if at all possible.”

Street light connections at the northern roundabout and road sign installation on Whitedown Lane will take place on December 16, with the removal of all traffic management and diversion routes the next day.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience caused,” the firm added.
