Gas network company SGN is upgrading its pipeline infrastructure at Jacklyns Lane in Alresford.

The project involves replacing old metal mains with new plastic pipes.

Work began on February 2 and will last until the end of March.

Contractor I&G is using temporary traffic lights and phased junction closures as it works past Robertson Road, Rosebery Road, Salisbury Road and Elm Road.

Jacklyns Lane will be temporarily closed in sections until mid-May while the contractor works up to the junction with Pound Hill and West Street.

Access will be maintained for residents and businesses, and a signed diversion will be in place, taking motorists via The Avenue, Winchester Road, Alresford Road, Petersfield Road, the A272 and the B3046 back to Jacklyns Lane.
