THE Countess of Wessex was in Alton on Thursday for a ‘thank you’ brunch for Treloar patrons.
Treloar School and College provides education and support to more than 170 students with physical or learning difficulties each year from their campus in Holybourne.
Treloar’s students have complex and sometimes multiple physical disabilities. They may also have a communication or sensory impairment or associated learning difficulties.
On arrival, the countess was welcomed by the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson, and met other civic dignitaries before heading to Treloar’s main hall to meet its patrons, trustees and governors.

After a speech by Mr Mackintosh, Her Royal Highness responded: “Treloar’s has an incredible reputation and certainly one for trailblazing. A fantastic charity, of which I am proud to be a patron. If it says it is going to do something it most certainly does it.
“You are surrounded by people who believe that given the opportunity its students can thrive.
“Thank you for your belief in Treloar’s and for the team effort you so obviously contribute to.”
The countess went on to meet with school and college students in Florence Treloar Hall and to watch a student boccia and curling demonstration. She was even invited to take part in a game of boccia with school student Phoebe.
