A giant rubber duck swam in 26 ponds in a day to raise money for BBC Children in Need 2026.

Its epic Quack-a-Thon adventure was the idea of Kingsley brother and sister Aaron and Alba Wilson.

Duck-loving Alba, 11, and Aaron, eight, completed it on October 28 after being inspired by BBC Children in Need’s campaign to encourage people to do challenges based on the number 26 for 2026.

The pair travelled around the local area, visiting well-known spots including King’s Pond in Alton, Holybourne Pond and Petersfield Heath Pond.

Other ponds visited included the Swelling Pond in Four Marks, South Pond in Midhurst, the Hogmooor Inclosure Pond, Frensham Ponds, Waggoners Wells and Shottermill Pond in Haslemere.

They also persuaded friends and neighbours to get involved by visiting ponds at their homes, helping them boost their impressive pond count.

Alba said: “We wanted to do something quack-a-licious for such a great cause to support children who are in need around the country.”

Aaron added: “Every time we saw a pond we said ‘Quick, get the duck!’ I think we’ll be doing that every time we see a pond forever now.”

The final stop was at Kingsley Pond close to their home, where the family celebrated completing their challenge with balloons followed by hot chocolate - a well-deserved warm-up after a long day of pond hopping.

Their efforts have already raised more than £600, with the siblings hoping the total will fly even higher in the run-up to BBC Children in Need day on November 13.

Fundraising for the charity is nothing new for Alba, who has taken on a variety of challenges over previous years, including a sponsored swim and a triathlon. Aaron joined her last time for an archery challenge.

They are now getting all their ducks in a row ready for BBC Children in Need 2027.
