SENTINEL Housing Association has been given the thumbs up to build 54 homes on the former Alton Day Service and railway embankment site in Chawton Park Road.
Despite continuing concerns from some quarters that building at a density of 62 to the hectare was still too much on this sensitive edge-of-town site, councillors on East Hampshire District Council's North Planning Committee decided last Thursday that Sentinel had done enough to address their concerns.
