COMPOSER, musician and teacher Martin Read died suddenly on Sunday.

Head of music at Alton College, Martin's unexpected death leaves a hole at Alton College and in the community as a whole.

Martin, 53, inspired many thousands of young people, at Alton College and previously at Eggar's School.

Alton College Principal Jane Machell said: "Martin was an essential part of life at the College and in the wider community over 23 years.

"Martin inspired thousands of students, many of whom have gone on to lead successful musical careers.

"He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew him and will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy."
