ALTON Operatic and Dramatic Society will celebrate its 95th anniversary by bringing the hit musical Sister Act to Alton Assembly Rooms.

It will form part of a challenging line-up, revealed this month by Alton’s original musical theatre for its 2015/6 season. It will begin with dynamic revue A Few Of Our Favourite Things at Alton Maltings Centre on October 2, to be followed by Alan Ayckbourne’s dark comedy Absurd Person Singular at Alton Assembly Rooms from November 12-14.

Sister will follow next May.

“After the huge success of Fawlty Towers last year, we knew it was important to bring another well-known title to the Alton stage,” said society chairman Robert Hudd. “We are blessed with much talent in the society and are delighted that our casts will have chances to get their teeth into some exciting roles in all three of our shows.”

Rehearsals are well under way for both of this autumn’s shows, but the society is keen for expressions of interest in appearing on stage for Sister Act – whether as a principle or chorus member – as well as assistance with any aspect of backstage work, including wardrobe, scenic artistry and props.

Tickets for A Few Of Our Favourite Things and Absurd Person Singular are now available from the Curtis Museum, or via aods.org, with an early booking discount available for Absurd Person Singular until the end of September.
