Children got crafty at the Fernhurst Hub at a Hallowe’en-themed afternoon organised by volunteer Sarah Brown.

Parents and grandparents were queuing outside the door for the 2pm start, and 24 children – aged between four and 13 years old – got creative.

Hub manager Liz Rawlings said: “We are delighted to see so many new faces in the hub who have come from far and wide to this Hallowe’en activity – including three of our local Ukrainian families.”

There was a lively atmosphere as the children set to work, immersing themselves in glue, coloured paper, and crayons as they made masks and bats out of recycled materials.

Grandmother Susan Godwin, who had brought her two grandsons Bertie and Archer Barker, said: “It has been so nice to see the boys quietly designing and creating, rather than sitting in front of a screen.

“We have all really enjoyed the afternoon and the boys have something to take home and show their parents.”
