THE youngsters at Alton Community Association Playgroup were keeping fit on Tuesday morning thanks to a generous gift from town shoppers and town superstore Sainsbury’s.

Through the Active Kids scheme run by the Draymans Way store, the playgroup children excitedly took ownership of skipping, hula-hooping and football equipment.

Sainsbury’s has been running its Active Kids scheme for eight years, usually in early spring, where customers collect vouchers at the till and then exchange them for activity equipment of their choice.

Debby Bridger, public relations ambassador for the Alton store, said it has been “a very successful scheme” with some people collecting hundreds of vouchers on behalf of local organisations and schools.

Alton Sainsbury’s next Active Kids voucher scheme is expected to start around the February half-term time.
