Children from St Mary’s Bentworth CE Primary School paid their own tribute to the Fallen on Armistice Day.

The village held its Remembrance Service at the 12th-century St Mary’s Church, and after the pupils made the short walk from the school to the War Memorial two of them had an important role to play.

A school spokesperson said: “St Mary’s Bentworth CE Primary School pupils joined members of the local community in a moment’s silence during the Remembrance Service on Friday, November 11.

“Head pupils Joy and Remi laid a wreath on behalf of the school.”

The school dates back to 1848, when it had a single classroom. A second classroom was added in 1871, followed by a gallery to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897.
