A FUNDRAISING team of babies from Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense Basingstoke summoned up their super human powers with a ‘Superhero Sensathon’ at Beech village hall.

The mums and babies were sponsored to undertake a set of superhero challenges in aid of Tommy’s, a baby charity that funds vital research into stillbirth, premature birth and miscarriage.

Run by Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense franchisee Michelle Grzbiela, the four one-hour sessions in Beech saw babies and tots dress as superheroes as they set out on a heroic mission to save babies’ lives, complete with capes, masks, full body suits and spandex!

The aim of this nation-ide exercise, which was sponsored by Arla Big Milk, is to raise £375,000 from Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense classes across the country which will help fund the work being carried out at Tommy’s four research centres. One-in-four UK parents loses a baby during pregnancy or birth and 60,000 babies are born prematurely each year.

Ms Grzbiela said: “This Superhero Sensathon is an enormously fun event that encourages parents and pre-schoolers to tap in to their inner Batman and raise funds for the research work Tommy’s pioneers into the causes and prevention of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature births.”

Jane Brewin, chief executive of Tommy’s, said: “Sensathon is a great way for mums and dads to involve their little ones in a good cause. Tommy’s relies on the generosity and hard work of its supporters like Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense to continue its pioneering research to prevent pregnancy complications.

“We hope everyone taking part had a super time!”

Catriona Mantle, shopper marketing manager of Arla Big Milk, said: “We are proud supporters of Tommy’s and are delighted to be backing this year’s sensathon. We know first hand the importance of development during those all-important early years of life, so it’s great to be working in partnership with Baby Sensory to support little ones, fuelling their amazing growth and development, and having fun all in aid of Tommy’s.”
