DIABETES experts are set to transform young patients’ understanding of the condition – by turning them into superheroes based on hit Marvel series Wolverine: Origins.

Medics at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust developed the idea with patients and publishing company Revolve Comics.

The comic, Type 1: Origins, features a young man who comes to terms with his diagnosis and his “special powers” of shock, surprise, acceptance and understanding of how to cope.
