ALTON Town Council’s Fun Fridays children’s entertainment has received a record turnout of visitors this summer and the Pirate and Fairy Adventure was no exception.

There was a variety of shows on offer every Friday afternoon throughout August in the Public Gardens. The council said it has received “lots of positive feedback from families who have been delighted by the free entertainment on offer during the school holidays”.

Deputy town mayor Dean Phillips (aka Captain Jack Sparrow) said: “It was great fun joining the families for the Pirate and Fairy Adventure finale.

“The children’s imaginative costumes made it very difficult to choose the winners, as in my eyes they all deserved to win the first prize Toy Shed vouchers which were kindly donated by Faye Bobillier.”
