MUSIC graduate Josh Hall, currently studying for a masters at The Royal Northern College of Music and previously a pupil at Churcher’s College, Petersfield, is organising this year’s Lasham Music Festival.
The festival, which runs from June 8-11, aims to bring excellence in classical music to the local community, with all profits helping to fund young musicians through their studies.
An early taster in 2017 is a concert at St Mary’s Church, Lasham, near Alton, where The Klee Quartet returns on Saturday, March 18, at 7.30pm for a programme of Purcell’s Fantasia, Britten’s String Quartet No.2 in C major, and Beethoven’s String Quartet in A minor.
Formed in 2008 at Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, the quartet currently study at Birmingham Conservatoire under the direction of Professor Oliver Wille. Most recently, they were awarded first prize at the Richard Carne Intercollegiate Competition, part of Royal Greenwich International String Quartet Festival.
Tickets, priced £10 for adults and £5 for children and students, are available from Waterstone’s on Alton High Street, by calling 01420 80888, or online at lashammusicfestival.co.uk.
