NATIONAL Express's decision to axe the town's remaining daily coach service to and from London "on the quiet without consultation" has been condemned.

Robert Saunders, Alton Town Council's Planning and Transportation committee chairman, said: "I went onto the National Express website to book tickets for a trip up to London later this month and was horrified to discover that Alton had been deleted from the list of destinations."
