RESIDENTS of the Treloar Heights estate joined forces on to host the inaugural community barbecue on the green.

Brought together over concerns when uninvited travellers arrived and set up camp, only to be forced to leave four days later by landowner Persimmon Homes, the residents decided to put the green to more positive, happier use.

According to one of the organisers, Shaun Wood, the event saw around 25 residents from Connaught Way, Florence Way and Kipling Road enjoying a warm Saturday evening over good food and drink, providing an opportunity to chat and get to know each other.

And he added: “At the same time the green was being used for a game of rounders by the extended family of one resident, so it was so nice to see it being enjoyed.”
