ALTON'S Eastbrooke Project is celebrating the second anniversary of its launch with news that it has taken strides towards improving the quality of life and reinvigorating the community spirit of residents.
The project team was upbeat about the initiative at East Hampshire District Council's community forum (Alton and villages) meeting on Tuesday evening.
Led by ward councillor Dean Phillips, the initiative was set up in August 2011 as a partnership project working with residents, EHDC, Radian Housing, Alton College, Hampshire Constabulary and others, to improve the area.
According to EHDC community officer John Geoghegan, the initiative was triggered by Alton Eastbrooke ward's standing in the government's Index of Multiple Deprivation.
