A HASLEMERE toddler has raised more than £5,000 for various charities, with her latest feat involving her pet sheep Hugo.
Verity Seignot-Griffiths, aged two, is no stranger to fundraising, having taken part in a two-mile horse ride just days after her first birthday, raising £1,000.
Then nearing her second birthday she took up the challenge again, doubling her former total to £2,000.
This year, Verity paired up with beloved sheep Hugo and her father ‘Daddy Davey’, to run the Race for Life around a field.
The five-kilometre race was cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic, with many people across the country opting to fundraise and complete the race in their local area.
Verity – who with her pets has garnered the support of many fans through social media pages – has so far raised £590, with donations still feeding in online.
She has also built a strong online presence, with many following her Facebook page @verityandtheponypals, the page having become “a positive space, with uplifting posts to spread a little happiness worldwide during the dark days of lockdown”.
Mother Caroline Seignot-Griffiths said: “Verity is an inspiration, she is so at home around animals and never backs down from a challenge.
“She loves playing with them, and as my horse therapy team can’t visit care homes currently, she has taken over the content of my Facebook page.
“And its audience of more than 32,000 people adore watching her adventures with the animals.”
Fundraising efforts in the Griffiths family don’t stop at Verity – with the toddler following in the footsteps of grandfather Ken, also known as Community Ken in the town.
He said: “She is a truly amazing little girl, who first rode on the back of her pony Noodles, when she was just three days old and has since won many rosettes for her riding accomplishments.
“She has such a way with animals and over the last 18 months since he has been on the farm, has also formed a particularly strong partnership with Hugo.
“Everyone who meets her can’t help but support everything she does, as her enthusiasm is truly remarkable – her grandad ‘Community Ken’ could not ask for more.”
