ONLY a week after taking on the role of assistant manager, Victoria Weston organised her first coffee morning in aid of Macmillan.

Held at Farm and Country Supplies in Selborne on September 25, as part of the charity’s annual Big Coffee Morning Challenge, the event raised £65 – thanks to the generosity of the store’s staff and customers.

With the help of colleague Katie Miles, who helped her bake a spread of cakes and biscuits, the coffee morning proved a "great success" and they were thanked by Macmillan representative Lisa Murphy.

They got the backing of the owners of the company, brothers Arran and Ryan James, who also got a chance to sample one large cake adorned with the words “Cake Tastes Better Eaten Together” and gave a donation.

Pleased with the success of the morning, Victoria said: “I had to arrange a lot of it while I was on holiday before joining the company on Monday last week.

“But I will definitely be holding another one next year, and it will be even better.”
