Organised by Alton-based photographer and vintage revival enthusiast Katie Hill, the two-day event will take place over the weekend of September 2-3 and will offer an opportunity to step back in time with an impressive programme of music, dance and costume with a 1940s and 1950s theme.
There will be music by The New Hawleans Jug Band, singer Steve Conway, and The Wield Glenn Miller Band, appearances by the Haslemere Thespians, and the opportunity to learn some 1940s and 1950s dance moves from Farnham’s very own Dance Movement. You can try out your lindyhop and jive to the sounds of the 40s, 50s and 60s with DJs Boppin’ Robin and Kat and the Bassman.
There will be vintage makeovers available by Paula’s Vintage Parlour (pictured right) and the chance to have your photograph taken in the 1940s Arcon MK5 prefab house by Paul Fitchett Images.
Dogs will be welcome on site and there will be a prize, sponsored by Barkers of Farnham, for the most dapper dog. So if your pooch has a vintage style to match your own, why not bring them along?
Refreshments will also be available, with COINS Cookie Bar Bus will be popping up to supply sweet treats and Frensham Brewery will be running the beer tent.
There will be a host of stalls selling everything from vintage clothes to retro homeware, alongside displays of Hot Rods and classic cars. Gramofun will be setting the atmosphere by playing wartime era records on original wind-up gramophones.
The weekend will kick off on Friday evening (September 1) with an open-air screening of David Lean’s 1945 classic Brief Encounter, starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard. The doors will open at 7pm and tickets, priced £10, are available from the Rural Life Centre on 01252 795571.
And on Saturday evening (September 2) there will be a tea dance with music by the Vic Cracknell Swing Band. Doors open at 7pm with tickets, priced £12, again available from the Rural Life Centre on 01252 795571.
