THE idea of a 'virtual footpath' on a blind bend on Trinity Hill at Medstead has been deemed "ridiculous". The application for 23 homes east of Cedar Stables, would access onto Trinity Hill – a C road from Medstead to Bentworth with a 30mph restriction, reducing to 20mph on the blind bend as it curves past the church and into the village. A proposal by landowner, Peter Charles, that seeks to provide a percentage of affordable units (14 affordable, nine open market), the application has attracted 100 comments, the majority objecting to "an urban style" estate on greenfield outside the settlement policy boundary. But of most concern is the intention to access off Trinity Hill – a narrow country road known for 'near misses' and serious accidents. For full story, see this week's Alton Herald.
