Voters in Alton Ashdell ward have requested a by-election for a vacant seat on Alton Town Council.

The notice of election was published on September 4, and the deadline for candidates to be nominated - or to withdraw from the election - is 4pm on September 12.

The list of candidates will be revealed at 4pm on September 15. If there is more than one candidate a by-election will be held and polling will take place on October 9 between 7am and 10pm.

The last date for people to register to vote is September 23. Postal vote applications must be made by 5pm on September 24, and proxy vote and voter authority certificate applications must be made by 5pm on October 1.
