VOTERS in East Hampshire will go to the polls next Thursday, May 22, to play their part in electing 10 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). Around 400 million Europeans will cast their votes on Thursday to shape the political make-up of the European Parliament. And in East Hampshire residents are being urged to exercise their right to be part of the decision-making process. Speaking in her capacity as returning officer for East Hampshire, district council chief executive Sandy Hopkins said: "It is our hard-won democratic right to vote in elections and we must make sure we take every opportunity to have our say - whether that is at local, general or European level. "Don't let someone else speak for you - go out on May 22 and have your say." For full story, see this week's Bordon Herald.
