AUGUST 31-SEPTEMBER 2: Rural Life Vintage Revival at Rural Life Centre, Tilford, near Farnham. Embracing the 1940s and 1950s era with live music provided by The Dustbowl Sinners, The Boot Heel Playboys, Amanda Jane, Steve Conway, Ed Hopwood, The Riverboat ramblers, Biscuits and Gravy and The Wield Glenn Miller Band. Vintage clothes, makeovers and hairstyle workshops at Paula’s Vintage Parlour, Paul Fitchett’s vintage photo studio, and stalls selling vintage miscellanea, clothes, jewellery and much more. Kicks off on Friday evening (August 31) with open-air screening of classic comedy Some Like it Hot starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon - open 7.30pm with film at 8.30pm. SEPTEMBER 9: Hampshire country sports day at Tichborne Park, Alresford, 9.30am-5.30pm. Horse riding falconer and star of Game of Thrones Jonathan Marshall returns with dancing Spanish and Lusitano horses with falcons. Arena events start 10am and include hounds, inter-hunt mounted relay, clay pigeon shooting, plus gun dog training with Sarah Miles, fly fishing, and terrier racing. SEPTEMBER 19: Energy Alton meeting at Alton Community Centre for the screening of the documentary film ’Tomorrow’ (‘Demain’), 7.30pm. A hugely positive and inspirational film, exploring creative local solutions in the fields of food, energy, transport, economics and education. It visits permaculture farms, urban farming projects, local renewable energy projects, creative schools, ambitious recycling projects and more.
