Hampshire Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a serious accident forced the closure of the A31 near Alresford.

Part of the A31 Alresford bypass was closed for much of yesterday (Saturday, December 27) following a three-vehicle collision between the Ropley and Sun Hill roundabouts.

The accident took place around 12.40pm with investigations continuing well into the evening and traffic being diverted via Bishop’s Sutton and New Alresford.

The police have not specified what vehicles were involved in the collision, or if anyone was seriously injured.

But the bypass is now fully reopen with police keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with potential dashcam footage of the area at the time.

A spokesperson said: “Officers would like to hear from any witnesses who were driving in the area at the time.

“Did you witness the incident, and do you have any dashcam footage which could help our enquiries?

“Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting 44250580645, or report online via https://orlo.uk/ij1jr
