ANDREWS’ Endowed Primary School at Holybourne enjoyed an Advent treat when they were ‘yarnbombed’ by some village elves!

The children and staff were delighted to arrive in school on December 1 to be greeted by a magical display of snowflakes in branches, knitted bunting on the walls, and trees wrapped in warm woolly scarves – and it was all thanks to the overnight effort of a small group of Holybourne lady knitters!

Headteacher Maria Lloyd said: “It was a privilege to watch the children’s reactions as they discovered knitted snowmen, wreaths and even a fully decorated knitted Christmas tree.

“The decorations have had an amazing impact on the adults too. Knowing how long each individual decoration must have taken to make, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of this group, so many thanks to Alex Cunningham, Claire Millard, Angie Moulton, Jacqui Swaby, Annie Vincent and Helen Walters.”

And she added: “The group have also added their knitted magic to the village church.

“What a lovely way to help the community get into the Christmas spirit!”
