MANOR Colts Football Club in Alton is looking to raise funds for the people of Ukraine by donating to the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline based at the Lavender Farm between Alton and Selborne.

The club is asking each player to donate £1 a game to the small charity run mainly by volunteers for the remainder of their games this month.

Normally the charity looks after the many still sick children, families and communities affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986 near the border of Ukraine with Belarus.

Now, alongside trying to get vital supplies into Ukraine, it is helping evacuate families out of the country.

Manor Colts will also ask opposition teams if they would like to contribute and have set up a Just Giving page – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/manorcoltschernobyl – for anyone else who would like to donate, as well as serving refreshments and having a raffle at their end of season prize giving to raise further money.
