The King's Arms youth charity is calling for new volunteers to help support its vital work with young people from Alton and the surrounding villages.

Based at Vicarage Hill in Alton, it has been serving the local community for many years and is seeking individuals who are passionate about helping young people and making a difference in their lives.

The charity’s programmes include after-school clubs five days a week, mentoring, work with young people with additional needs and support for young carers.

Programme manager Dom Clarke said: “All of these services are so important in helping young people overcome challenges and obstacles in their lives and we simply couldn’t do what we do without volunteers. They play a vital role in the charity’s work.”

Youth worker Matt said: “Volunteers can help us in a number of ways, primarily within our programmes – spending time with young people, playing pool, chatting or helping with craft activities.

“More than anything we want KA to be a home from home where all young people feel welcomed and can have fun. Perhaps you have the skills to help us?”

There are also behind-the- scenes volunteering roles, including a range of administrative duties and cleaning the youth club.

The recent coronation of King Charles III and the ongoing Big Help Out scheme promoted the value of volunteering, and the charity welcomes adult volunteers with a wide range of gifts and skills to offer. It would like to hear from anyone who can offer a regular weekly commitment alongside a willingness to help young people and a passion to make a positive impact in their lives.
