Trampoline starlet Corey Martin is celebrating an England call-up – at the age of ten.

Corey, from Alpha Trampoline Club in Alton, has been chosen to take part in the England double-mini trampoline squad.

He has been with Alpha since he was five years old and despite having a year and half out of action because of the Covid lockdowns, he has hit the national campaign running.

He competed in the Open Age Group event run by British Gymnastics last October, which introduces young gymnastics to the pressures and reality of competing at an elite level.

Corey competed in the trampoline and double-mini trampoline (DMT) and it was an event that introduced the young gymnast to the pressures and reality of competing at the top level.

He is in the youngest age group permitted at this level and finished first in DMT in two Spring Cup competitions, as well as getting third in the same competitions in the trampolining events.

These successes saw Corey qualify for the National Age Group Finals in Birmingham, where he picked up two medals, a bronze and a silver.

Corey now has the British Championships coming up where he will compete against the best in the country, including Olympians and World Championship competitors.

His successes saw him called up to the England DMT Foundation Squad.

Corey’s coach Christine Bothwell said: “It’s been great to see Corey training extremely hard and growing up into a young man with clear goals for the future.

“We’ve worked really hard on preparing for the elite season this year and it’s great to see Corey achieving excellent results and this England selection is just the icing on the cake.”

Corey began his England journey with his first squad day last month.

Alpha Trampoline Club are always on the lookout for the next champions of the sport to join their performance pathway.

Christine said: “We are particularly looking for youngsters between five and 12 years old with a good background in trampoline, gymnastics, tumbling, diving, dance, or any related sport!

“If you think you have what it takes to follow in Corey’s footsteps and compete on the biggest stages in our sport, get in touch!”
