Badshot Lea co-manager Gavin Smith is demanding a positive reaction from his side in tomorrow’s massive promotion six-pointer at home to Jersey Bulls.

The Baggies fell to a shock 3-0 home defeat against Camberley Town in the Combined Counties Premier Division South on Saturday, but now face a mouth-watering game against a promotion rival.

Smith acknowledged the potential significance of tomorrow’s game, and insists his players are also well aware of its importance.

“The lads will know anyway, because if we want to win something we’ve got to beat Jersey,” said Smith.

“Usually we turn up for those games. It’s the type of game like against Camberley that are our problem – but we’ve been pretty good this year, I’ve got to say.

“Over the whole season you can only afford to lose a handful of games. Jersey are coming here right in it, so it puts pressure on us now.”

Smith acknowledged his side fell well below their usual levels against Camberley.

“We weren’t good enough to break them down – we wouldn’t have scored if we were out there all day," he said.

Badshot Lea progressed to the semi-finals of the Aldershot Senior Cup with a 2-1 win over an Aldershot under-23 side on Tuesday.

“The Shots were good – young and fit, and a good test for us,” said Smith.

The Baggies join The Army  in the semi finals. The other two places are yet to be decided,  with Westfield playing the winners of the Farnham Town-Midhurst & Easebourne tie, and Frimley Green yet to play Alton.
