FARNHAM team Central A shared the points with Tennis A, the Aldershot Table Tennis League Division? One leaders.
No player was unbeaten or unsuccessful on the night, but there were doubles for Central’s Phil Snelson and the Tennis pair of Eliot Tilley and Paul Myers.
Central B, meanwhile, achieved victory over Frimley A with just two players. Martin Townshend and Robin Pretty were both unbeaten in the 7-3 success.
Frimley D edged to a 6-4 victory in the Division?Three top-of-the-table clash against Tennis F. All Frimley’s points were won by the undefeated pair of Gary Nicholson and Anthony Connelly.
Ash E narrowly beat Cody D 6-4, but the star performer was Dean Hewitt who won all three for the losers. Amy Parkes and Jo Bartlett won two apiece for Ash.
Tennis G recorded a much-needed 7-3 victory over Crawley Ridge A. Peter Bone claimed a maximum and Tushar Vaja supported with two wins. Crawley Ridge’s Corin Moore also won twice.
Cody C beat their E team 7-3, thanks to a maximum from David Thomas and two for John Harvey.
All the Division Four matches were tightly fought. Frimley E and Ash G shared the points, with Frimley’s Dennis Smith recording a hat-trick and Bob Murrell and Ray Mears taking two each for the opposition.
Ben Carr was unbeaten for Ash H, but his side lost 6-4 as doubles from Ken Lewington and Martin Evans led Tennis H to a 6-4 success.
Tennis J beat high- flying Crawley Ridge B, also 6-4, with Peter Bone’s treble the difference between the sides. Team-mate Mehrdad Abutalebi won two, as did Crawley Ridge’s Phil Garrett.
Alan Yeung secured a maximum for Fleet C who beat Cody F 6-4, with John Asprey and Norrie Short taking two each for the losers. Ash F beat their two-man J team 6-4. Sheila Pretty was unbeaten for the Fs, while Bob Powney won twice for the Js.
The remaining Handicap Cup quarter-final was also a close affair, with Central A seeing off Fleet A 7-5. Despite having the highest handicap, Phil Snelson was the outstanding player, finishing unbeaten in both singles and doubles. Colleague Paul Baker won two singles and combined with Snelson to take the doubles. David Joyce claimed a defiant double for Fleet.
