Farnham’s first team lost their bottom-of-the-table clash against Worcester Park by six wickets on Saturday.
Home skipper Jim Berry lost the toss and Farnham were invited to bat first on a green-looking pitch.
Four of the top five from Farnham’s watchful top order made conservative starts, looking to build a platform.
This was then capitalised upon with captain Berry and Tom Grimes both passing 50.
The torch was then taken up by the dynamic duo of Russell Golding and Jamie Strachan, who combined to score 30 runs from 23 balls at six and seven to propel the score past 200.
A few late nudges from Brady Poole saw Farnham post 217 for eight from 53 overs.
The metronomic Rob Goldsworthy and fiery George Osborne were tasked with opening the bowling for Farnham, and were both rewarded for excellent spells with a wicket apiece. Goldsworthy knocked back Fazal Hussain’s off stump, while Osborne had Joe Hill well caught by a diving Nathan Thorpe at slip.
Captain Richard Rawlings and Arpit Batra started conservatively to weather the Farnham storm. At one point it seemed as though Worcester Park had shut up shop for the chase after ten overs. However, Bartra seemed to flip a switch and decided to hit the accelerator and played some amazing shots all around the ground.
Poole managed to prise out Rawlings, however Rob Hill played aggressively and pushed the visitors towards victory. Batra fell for a well-made 95, but the damage was done and Worcester Park got home with an over to spare. Hill finished on 47 not out.
A difficult one to take for Farnham, but full credit must go to Worcester Park who pulled off a remarkable chase for a team who had been languishing at the bottom of the table.
Farnham’s third team slipped to a six-wicket defeat at Whiteley Village’s third team on Saturday.
Farnham arrived for the bottom-of-the-table clash with several junior players being called up for their first taste of senior cricket.
It had rained the night before and Whiteley Village won the toss and elected to field on their home ground, leaving Farnham to bat on a damp and unpredictable wicket.
Openers Henry Beattie and John Grant struggled with the wicket and slow outfield, and it was clear Whiteley Village had made the right choice.
Runs were hard to come by, but Beattie scored 55 before being bowled by Faz Ahmed.
William Phillips (13 not out) was the only other batter to reach double figures as Farnham were bowled out for 111 in the 38th over.
As the day progressed the wicket and outfield dried and became much faster.
Whiteley opener Andrew Ayres scored 48 before he was dismissed by Charlie Robinson (one for 26). Richard Phillips took three wickets, but the home side knocked the runs off in just 17 overs.
