Ryan Hale, back in the Alton ranks, scored a superb century and skipper Hugo Hammond supported with 60 as the Brewers amassed 234-8 in their 50 overs.

Steve Ball snapped up two early Gosport wickets, but opener Lee Harrop (72) was then joined by overseas player Michael Ruffell who scored an equally impressive hundred.

With Gosport needing 10 an over in the late stages, Alton looked like they might sneak victory, but it was not to be. Greg Kitchin saw Gosport to their target with 10 balls to spare and three wickets intact.
