Liphook & Ripsley ended their season with a 43-run victory against Hartley Wintney at Ripsley Park.
Sean Burton lost the toss and Liphook were put into bat.
The hosts got off to a terrible start as the normally-reliable Ryan Covey fell in the first over for a duck. Rob Nicklin and Henry Amis survived the early bowler-friendly conditions and got the score to 62 before Amis fell for a hard-fought 28.
The home side then lost a couple of quick wickets and stumbled to 95 for four.
Nicklin and George Neave added 77 for the fifth wicket to get Liphook back on top. Nicklin eventually fell for a patient 65 and Neave fell soon afterwards for a well-played 47 as Liphook scored 209 for eight off their 50 overs. Hugo Hammond (three for 34) was the pick of the visitors’ bowlers.
Hartley Wintney’s reply didn’t start well as Oscar Amis ran out Darren McBride for one with a superb piece of fielding. Neave picked up two wickets in his opening spell and Hartley Wintney were struggling at 34 for three.
The visitors then collapsed to 87 for six, and the game looked like being plain sailing for the home side.
However, Simon Carter and Ben Williams put together a good partnership and took the score to 148. The reintroduction of Neave led to Williams’ downfall as he was bowled for a well-played 36.
George Worman was bought into the attack and picked up the final three wickets with a superb spell of three for 23.
Neave (three for 36) was the other standout bowler as Hartley Wintney were eventually bowled out for 166.
